Flirtatious Fiction was created for romance readers — the ones who fall in love with fictional characters, stay awake until 2am saying “one more chapter,” and understand that books can become a form of comfort, escape and obsession all at once.
Flirtatious Fiction is an independent woman-owned romance bookstore based in Ayr, created for readers who love getting completely lost in a good book and obsessing over fictional characters just a little too much.
More than anything, the vision behind Flirtatious Fiction was to create a space that feels welcoming, comforting and exciting somewhere you can browse slowly, romanticise your everyday life, discover your next obsession and fully embrace your love of romance fiction without judgement.
But Flirtatious Fiction is about more than just books. Community is at the heart of everything we do. Through themed events, bookish gifts and interactive experiences, we want to create a space where readers feel connected, understood and part of something special.

Our Community Initiative
Alongside creating a welcoming space for book lovers, we’re also passionate about supporting women within our local community. We collect community donations to create thoughtful care packages filled with comfort items, self-care products and everyday essentials for women who may need extra support during difficult times. We also provide discreet access to information about local support services, including South Ayrshire Women’s Aid, within our store. At Flirtatious Fiction, we believe every woman deserves a safe chapter, both within the stories they read and in real life too.
